Wesley Bryan is currently suspended from the PGA Tour and will not be allowed to caddie for his brother George at the U.S. Open, but Scottie Scheffler joked he would take him
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler took a lighthearted jab at banned PGA Tour golfer Wesley Bryan, joking that he would ask Bryan’s brother George to be his caddie at an upcoming tournament. Bryan’s suspension from the PGA Tour came after he participated in a tournament connected to LIV Golf.
Bryan, known for his influence in the YouTube golf community and for winning the 2017 RBC Heritage, stepped into controversy by signing up for The Duels. The event, supported by LIV Golf, prompted the PGA Tour to threaten bans to any participants. However, George has taken a step towards qualifying for the U.S. Open.
Bryan plans to challenge the ban, arguing that The Duels doesn’t qualify as a typical LIV event. Meanwhile, Scheffler has made Phil Mickelson eat his words with his own performances on the course.

While sharing a round of golf with YouTube personality Grant Horvat, Scheffler joined in to discuss the situation. Scheffler quipped back: “Alright then, I probably wouldn’t go. I only know Wesley, but I’d probably take George instead.
“And I say that without really knowing George. Just knowing Wesley. I don’t have a strong opinion either way, but it’s just a good opportunity to hate on Wesley a little bit. Now that he’s got some extra time on his hands, he’ll probably watch this video.”
Last month, Bryan opened up about his suspension from the PGA Tour and his plans to fight back. “I have been suspended by the PGA Tour.
“It’s been a difficult few weeks for us. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for sure for everybody in this cart,” he revealed on his popular Bryan Bros channel, which he co-presents with George.
“All we’ve ever wanted to do from the Bryan Bros is be able to merge professional and YouTube golf. And this (The Duels) was going to be one of those opportunities we’ve been dreaming of since we got into YouTube golf.
“I want to be clear, I do respect the authorities that are in place at the tour, but because of the ambiguity in the rules and regulations that were written, I do, as a member of the PGA Tour, have a right to appeal their decision of which I plan on exercising.”

“And I don’t feel like when the rule was written it was meant to cover content creation on YouTube. I feel like it was meant to cover organised, professional, high-level golf events.”
Scheffler meanwhile secured an impressive victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last weekend, setting him up perfectly for the upcoming PGA Championship. He nabbed his first PGA Tour triumph of 2025 by completing the tournament at an impressive 31-under-par.
Speaking to CBS Sports’ Amanda Balionis afterwards, he admitted: “This tournament means a lot to me. It’s my first start as a pro, 11 years ago, when I had my sister caddying for me – she’s back there too. It feels like a lifetime of hard work and sacrifice for little moments like these, and they’re pretty special.
